Tips & Tricks – on POSING.

I don’t know about you girls ….but me, I am always freaked out by pictures. I don’t like the way I look, I don’t like how fat I look, I don’t know how to stand or sit or smile! the result? mostly ugly pictures.
So that’s why I’m here today, ‘cause … it’s all about posing! whether you are a fashion blogger, a wannabe plus size model, or just a cutie posing for holiday pictures, you should know how to rock that camera.

1. first thing first … move those legs! we don’t have extra-long, super-skinny, model-like legs – so let’s get a move on, twist & curve them! & no more scary “I have chunky legs” thoughts.

2.  don’t face it, take it sideways! don’t you understand? you wouldn’t have those curves, if you weren’t supposed to turn & twist your body following them. So whenever you can, don’t face the camera standing or sitting directly towards its flat face – move & flirt like the big winding snake that you are.

3. direct the attention wherever you like. You can manage the viewer’s attention however you like – you have this kind of power. Show your best feature, or a part of your body that you don’t mind showing – & that’ll capture the eyes more than any of your flaws.

4. be silly, play around! this is one of the most important tricks – if you don’t want the viewer (including yourself!) to focus on your fat or thighs or whatever, let them focus on how much fun you’re having! smile, show your clothes, lean on something, make faces, play-play-play! you’ll have fun, & you’ll be fun to see!

6. walk-walk-fashion baby – just like Lady Gaga would say: WALK! if you can, don’t stand still: MOVE! the results are immediate & amazing.

5. strike a pose. Obvious, uh? not really. Hands on your hips, & you may feel a little ridiculous – but it works! models don’t stand in certain positions because they like it …they do because they come out better in photos! so do the same. look around, grab inspiration wherever you like, & do it.

this is it, at least for our first post about Posing … hope you liked it!

Things I Liked – inspiration galore & so much more.

I know…it rhymes!! there’s nothing like a rhyme to cheer me up (galore-more, in case you didn’t notice).
I spent my time this week talking about English & other languages – how hard can they be? or easy? & how about Italian? I know, right -, reading books from my childhood (& my parents’! so moving, to have those 1950s books in my hands), & enjoying the amazing sounds of Shakespeare’s poems. I sound like a school nerd; but who cares. There’s something, in the words I read & hear, that always enchants me…I created a Pinterest board for that, just so I could make absolutely clear how nerdy I am! ahah!

♥ ok so, let’s start with this week’s delights …talking about Pinterest, here’s your usual Most RePinned Pin! love it? I do!

♥ & then it’s surely time for Tumblr‘s Top Post! delicious!

♥ so I’ve promised you inspiring ideas, & I’m gonna keep that promise; but first, let’s read together this awesome Dear Person Who Just Left a Negative Comment About Something On the Internet letter – an open letter to all internet haters! no need to say it, I LOVE IT.

♥  Because you can: make ‘em look is an amazing article on Rookie Magazine that strongly affirms our power to ignore any comment at all, about our looks & behavior & the outfits we choose to rock.

♥  it’s easy to go from self-confidence pro to The Ultimate Cheat Sheet from Re-Inventing Yourself: a guide to start a-new every time you wish to, or whenever you feel you need a make-over. It happens to feel stuck, either emotionally or working-wise; this list truly goes in deep, talking about all aspects you should take into consideration when you want a brand new start. Useful (& by the way, it is also funny)!

♥  & since we touched the subject…here’s an interview to one of my fave inspirational people in the world; a woman that truly re-invented herself from scratch, & spends all her life creating & dreaming: SARK! there’s not much I can say about her, just do this for me: read the interview, & then if you’re interested check her website, & then come back to me & we’ll talk about it. Ok? love ya.

♥  did you have enough already? just one more thing! you look like you need an Emergency Compliment, right now. go get it dear!

Things I Liked – spending time on YouTube!

OOOh yes ! it’s warm & adorable, we can stop wearing coats & start dreaming about summer dresses & no tights …so? where were we?

♥ have you seen this week’s Top Post on Tumblr? oh my goodness. So adorable! I’m really into Disney (always) & Disney princesses – but I truly love them more when they look real…! I recently started a new board to collect all Disney-related-alternative posts…I think it’s much more fun than sticking to classic!

♥ so, talking about Pinterest, right? here’s the most RePinned Pin of the week! yesss …yellow is my spring/summer colour, yes it is. The sun, the sunflowers, lemonade, sand, the heart of daisies…there’s so much bright yellow & gold in these seasons, don’t you think?

♥ oh, & do you wanna know what I spent much of my time on, this week? Youtube! yep. Well, I love Youtube, I follow a lot of channels & I like to go through them every now & then (remember, I told you about my Ellen DeGeneres obsession..? I watch all her show’s episodes online!). & here’s what I most recently found for you: Fat Girls & Leggings – an exhilarating video…make sure you watch it & not stop at the beginning, it’s super inspiring & funny. Best Dresses for Your Body Type – interesting, even tho the girl in the video could wear basically anything on earth; but she gives some good advice. How to Dress Yourself Skinny – same as above: skinny girl giving advice…but some of them are really good: remember, we’re not size-racist!

Fashion Forecast – STRIPES galore !

Everyone has kept telling us that big girls shouldn’t wear (horizontal) stripes …I know! we’ve been hearing that for ages, don’t we??
Well, well, well: forget that, at least for the season to come! I’m starting to see stripes on every fashion blog I visit …of course I see florals too, but that’s a print you always see during spring time. How about stripes?  they look like a big spring/summer hit!
The lovely girl above is GarnerStyle, of course: great fashion blogger, always looking for something new & original.  & what is she wearing? stripes!

I absolutely love a striped dress on the beach …& Stéphanie Zwicky agrees! I think she looks amazing in this dress, very rétro, incredibly classy. She also owns a striped coat, like the one up up above, that she wore in many occasions (like this one). Seriously, this is really a trend!

& then there’s her …my ever loved fashion guru…Big or Not to Big! wearing stripes, of course. Paired with the most lovely pastel pink skirt, ‘cause she’s cute; & some leopard, ‘cause she’s originally stylish. So adorable!

In conclusion, my dearest girls, make sure you wear stripes anytime you want this season!
you’re not only entitled to it, & have full permission from the style universe…you also have some amazing inspiration all around!

Things I Liked – Spring & Scrapbooking !

Hello people ! I’m quite busy at the moment, planning my life & trying to work with what I’ve got now. Not always easy but…hey, c’est la vie.
Anyway, just saying this ‘cause I noticed I’m a little of a slow blogger… but let’s not talk about it anymore! let’s go see what I found around the web for you, & for me, during this loooong week past!

♥ I want to start with the Top of the Tops this week ! first of all, let’s go see the Top Post on Tumblr ! For a while I thought that my Honey Boo Boo/complete self appreciation post was going to win – but no! my followers are so into spring time, that of course they faved one of the prettiest floral dresses ever …too bad I can’t get to the real source, ‘cause I’d really love to know where this dress is from!

♥ secondly, the Most RePinned Pin on Pinterest ! well, of course ! again, a little touch of spring ..but still remembering that it is not really spring yet. I love yellow & black together, have I ever told you? so nice, good for every occasion.

This post on made me think of two of the things I really really love in life: inspirational notebooks & scrapbooking ! have you ever tried ? well, it doesn’t take much, but let me explain (of course, you could also go & enroll directly in the course offered by the above mentioned blogger, if you wish). I strongly believe that we all need inspiration, everyday, & almost every minute of our lives; sometimes we wake up extremely brilliant & full of ideas & motivation…but sometimes we don’t, right? there’s periods in my life when I never wake up happy. Yep. In all kinds of situations, I turn to my inspirational notebook, that’s what I do! I draw, I stick pictures, I cut out glittery paper & glue it to to the pages, I write down my thoughts & my weird night dreams …& the result is this wonderful, succulent, shiny & colourful notebook of my life! I love to go through it every now & then. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I take further inspiration to make something new. I think you can benefit of this, too!

♥ you may need some further inspiration for this, I presume…sure, sure, no problem! I’m not gonna leave you alone at the beginning of this journey! you can obviously find tons of ideas on Pinterest, but that can be quite messy (I suggest you pick a couple of boards you like, & follow them). But the easiest is to go along with the Wreck This Journal style…you know what I mean, right?! & this is exactly the meaning of an inspirational notebook…you open it, & do whatever your mind tells you to! the good thing is, you don’t need to follow anyone else’s directions to do it, & you can also pick your own fave notebook. I only follow a couple of simple “rules”, which I’m gonna give to you too, ‘cause they could be useful (in creating some of your own!): 1. stick to one journal style – meaning, I only buy a certain type of notebook, I know it may seem like I’m a maniac but…yeah, I kinda am. I don’t mind. I love Paperblanks. 2. cut anything that tickles my mind from magazines & coloured paper! you never know when it could be of inspiration. I cut out pics of shoes, places I like, clothes, flowers, words…anything I like. I keep them, & then I glue them on the pages when I feel like it. As simple as it sounds!

Things I Liked – STOP! it’s SPRING TIME!

Good morning Spring buds! it’s your time to rise & shine!
Finally the calendar says it’s spring time (21st of March=Spring equinox) – the weather may or may not agree with this, but hey, I want to believe!

♥ So to start it, let’s take the dust off of some old goodies (like you do with sundresses & bathing suits!) – this post by Gala Darling is a little bit old, but it popped out on my facebook dashboard a couple of days ago…so let’s enjoy it again! 50 Alternative First Dates Ideas! I have to say, I’d love to go on 90% of them (the watch the sunrise date is my fave). Now that Spring is coming, don’t feel like …love? then I guess it’s a great idea to plan all sorts of first dates: invite your best friend out, plan a fabulous date with your lover, set the alarm to remind yourself of an important meeting you have…with your own adorable self!

♥ still in mood for dusting yourself off? see if you remember some of these old-but-good movies & the fashion inspiration within!
♥ & one more feel good thing: it may not be the top post on my tumblr, but it’s one of the posts I like the most…! there’s so much meaning inside it, so much kindness & sweetness…I think it even moves me a little.

♥ finally, it’s the big moment: Top of the Tops! Top Post on Tumblr, y’all …of course, it’s the lovely Girl With Curves! isn’t she amazing, everyone: back from pregnancy with even more style than ever, beautiful as she could be, & perfectly classy. Love her!

♥ & Most RePinned Pin on Curvy is the Way – thank you very much: neither you not I could resist to Pierce Brosnan & his wife Keely Shaye Smith, right? so I went a little further & got some gossips for you: she’s in her 50s, married to the gorgeous ex-007 & Mamma Mia! co-protagonist since 2001, a journalist, a mother, & what more…oh yes, she’s amazingly curvy! here some more pictures.

Things I Liked (& didn’t like!)

I had a whole lot of internet connection problems lately…& I didn’t like this! but after last week & having experienced it all, I have to admit I’m half-way on the web addiction issue: I am not one of those people who freaks out for the lack of internet, but I surely didn’t like it! what I was most concerned of was, to be sincere, the fact of missing up with my blog followers – here, of course, but especially on tumblr. I also missed being updated & updating, yes, like on facebook or instagram.
So I was thinking…would I be able to live without internet? I think so, but the real thing is: I don’t want to. AH! that’s a big admission, uh? truth is, I like to be updated & connected & spend time checking websites – yup!

So you know what? I’m gonna share some delicious finds that I had to set aside these past days…enjoy & have fun!

♥ the first two are from Cosmopolitan – as you may well know, The Bible of fashion babes! even with its skinny sad models & crazy expensive shopping suggestions – How To Flirt Like Crazy (hey, you never know when you may need a reminder!) & Times You Shouldn’t Be Nice (funny how I do all the nice things & almost never thought about the bitch things).

Accelerating Serendipity – is that even possible? will it be as awesomely good as it sounds? according to this blog, yep.

♥ after all of these inspiration tips, should we set aside our weekly top of the tops? not really. Again, I could…but I don’t want to!! so let’s see who gained the Top Post position on Tumblr …oh, the twirling girl! I knew her mini skirt, with its shape & colours, would make a hit.

♥ Most rePinned Pin on Pinterest ! …omg I love this. I love my followers on Pinterest! seriously, this time they’ve picked one of my fave posts ever.
